Movin' on...

And so it begins... the boxing up of our lives to be moved on to another home. It became official today as we signed a lease on a new place in another part of town. While this house has character and we did a little work on it, we felt it was probably best to move on. We hate moving, but think the new place will be great.

This cute little rancher above will now be our new place to call home. It is in the Near West End of Richmond within walking distance of one of our favorite little dives for greasy food and beer. Not to knock our current neighborhood, but the new one is a nice step up too. The picture above was supplied by the owner. You know I will be taking a ton of pics during the move and afterwards. Key thing with the new diggs is that it has a screened in porch on the back!!! We look forward to the move and hope that everything goes okay from here on out... We do not take possession until Feb 1 (but are trying to get in sooner, cross your fingers). When the owner stopped by today for us to put down the deposit and sign the lease, he mentioned the house has always had good Karma. I believe in Karma and I hope what he says is true. I really need for 2010 to be good, and with this move, I hope it is a step in the right direction.
We decided we were not going to do the great big deal of repainting everything this time around. We are just going to move and make ourselves at home. If along the way we want to add a splash of color, we may. But for now, we are going to just worry about moving and that is it.
So my dear blog readers... get ready for a month of me being worried about this, that and the other... taking half naked pics surround by boxes of stuff... and the typical drama that insues during any kind of move...

Congrats guys! Hope you start feeling much better with the move and I'm happy you found a wonderful place!

Moving, while a pain, can be very liberating. I'm not looking to be liberated or anything, so I'll stay put and read about your move instead.
Congrats.

Did the move thing ourselves in '09 - big change but a great way to turn the page to a new chapter. Good luck and best wishes for happiness in the new place!

I'm very happy you guys are getting away from the mold zone. Sorry you have to go through a move to do it though. Is there anything in life more (short-term) stressful than a move? Not much.

I don't envy you your move - nervewracking things they are !
Take breaks, breathe, don't neglect eating/sleeping and please oh please watch your backs!

I'd rethink painting. Seriously, you've signed the lease & given a deposit, so it's yours. If the house is empty (or will be empty before move-in day), ask for the landlord's permission to paint. There's no easier time to paint a room than when it's empty. After you have furniture (and LIGHTING) in the house, you'll find the little things that could have been fixed up with just a coat of paint... Please consider it.
Congrats on the new house & I'm glad you don't have to deal with the mold/mildew problem anymore. (Time to take lots of pics & sue the old landlord.)
Huggggggs!
